Some books that Chula approves of

Lets just say I want to think Danielle at @yaallegiance on Instagram for picking these for our Buddy read under #YAALLEGIANCEPATREON

Bone criers moon

Synopsis: Bone Criers have a sacred duty. They alone can keep the dead from preying on the living. But their power to ferry the spirits of the dead into goddess Elara’s Night Heavens or Tyrus’s Underworld comes from sacrifice. The gods demand a promise of dedication. And that promise comes at the cost of the Bone Criers’ one true love.

Ailesse has been prepared since birth to become the matriarch of the Bone Criers, a mysterious famille of women who use strengths drawn from animal bones to ferry dead souls. But first she must complete her rite of passage and kill the boy she’s also destined to love.

Bastien’s father was slain by a Bone Crier and he’s been seeking revenge ever since. Yet when he finally captures one, his vengeance will have to wait. Ailesse’s ritual has begun and now their fates are entwined—in life and in death.

Sabine has never had the stomach for the Bone Criers’ work. But when her best friend Ailesse is taken captive, Sabine will do whatever it takes to save her, even if it means defying their traditions—and their matriarch—to break the bond between Ailesse and Bastien. Before they all die.

My thoughts: For Bone criers Moon I listened to the audiobook on hoopla. Right going into this book was full of action and amazing. Different because it had 3 pov and the male was actually read by a man. Hehe There’s twist and turns. You will shocked. I gave this one a 4 star. The narration was amazing and I can’t wait to start the next one.

Bookish and the beast

Synopsis: A tale as old as time is made new in Ashley Poston’s fresh, geeky retelling of Beauty and the Beast. Rosie Thorne is feeling stuck—on her college application essays, in her small town, and on that mysterious General Sond cosplayer she met at ExcelsiCon. Most of all, she’s stuck in her grief over her mother’s death.

My thoughts: Now, this book was a quick read and enjoyable. If your looking for something different this is the book. I gave this one a 5 star. It was well written, witty and you won’t regret picking this one up. My favorite saying from this is “we all occupy space for such a short period of time, even though sometimes it feels like eternity. We’re here, and then gone, and our stuff stays behind. The things that we used, the things that we loved, the things that we treasured, and adorable and despised. These trinkets exist far longer than we do, and Ive always imagined them as that-just things, to be bought, sold, gathered. They can cast a spell to ensure that people you’ve never met will miss you when you’re gone” Vance

Synopsis: For seventeen-year-old Fable, the daughter of the most powerful trader in the Narrows, the sea is the only home she has ever known. It’s been four years since the night she watched her mother drown during an unforgiving storm. The next day her father abandoned her on a legendary island filled with thieves and little food. To survive she must keep to herself, learn to trust no one, and rely on the unique skills her mother taught her. The only thing that keeps her going is the goal of getting off the island, finding her father, and demanding her rightful place beside him and his crew. To do so Fable enlists the help of a young trader named West to get her off the island and across the Narrows to her father.

But her father’s rivalries and the dangers of his trading enterprise have only multiplied since she last saw him, and Fable soon finds that West isn’t who he seems. Together, they will have to survive more than the treacherous storms that haunt the Narrows if they’re going to stay alive.

My thoughts: Fable, where do I start. This book was captivating from the first page and I couldn’t put it down. Now that I’m done, it feels like something is missing. This book has adventure and action, love and betrayal. I learned some new words reading this book and there’s a few sayings I loving from this one, ” I can’t decide if I like you or if I think you’re stupid -Willa” or “Don’t draw attention to yourself. Its better to be no one, than to be someone in this city-West” or “You want something in this life you take it-Willa” last but definitely not last “You were made for a far better world than this one-Saint” I was memorized by this book. Its to long to wait for March to come. I need to know what happens to fable now. I give this one 5 stars, definitely one of my top 10 reads for 2020.
